Last week was a good training week. I managed to pump out three big training runs with a 40km run on both Monday and Friday and a longer 50km run on Wednesday. Both 40km runs were nice and easy however on the 50 km run I did seem to struggle a bit in the last 10km. That was probably due to pushing myself a bit too hard at the start, I still managed to do it in under 5 hours with a time of 4 hours 46 mins which is alright I guess!
This week will be another big week, this arvo I will do another 40km run, Wednesday I will try push out a 60km run and then finish the week off with a 40km run. Will definitely be going slow and steady in the 60km run aiming for a time of 6 hours so a nice, easy 10km an hour.
Next week will be my final week in Australia and will also be my biggest training week, I will do one big run of 90km with a couple of 40 km runs. This is to get me prepared for the day 5 of the Lycian Way Ultra which is also a day of 80-90km. The training run isn't really supposed to help me get physically prepares, it's more of a mental tactic so I myself will know during the race that I can last the distance as I would have done it a couple of weeks before.
Last week I received some great new stuff from one of my sponsors Zensah. They sent over a new compression top and bottom along with their brand new compression sock which cover the calf muscles which work just as well as the Zensah leg sleeves. Very happy with the new product, I will be racing with it over in Turkey!
I also got word from the food company Bounce that they are willing to sponsor me wit their great Bounce Balls. I eat these things all of the time, not just because they are great for my training but because they taste so damn good! I will be taking these over with me for my final week of training in Athens and then for each day of running in the Lycian Way Ultra! Also, the health food company NTP Health Products have made a generous donation for the new cause I am running for, Vital Ground and their 'Dares for Bears' campaign which helps with the conservation of Grizzly Bears! Which reminds me, I am looking for some more donations for this amazing cause.
