My Blog

An Amazing Time in Greece.

A very late blog update, I have had no time to do one as we have been super busy here in Greece. Tomorrow will be our final day here before flying back to Istanbul in Turkey. We will spend two nights in Istanbul and then Neil will be flying back home to Brisbane and I will fly out to the start of the race. Exciting times!

We have had the most amazing time here, visiting all sorts of ancient ruins around Athens and in nearby towns including Delphi, one of the most amazing places, it was also once considered the center of the Earth! We also traveled to a couple of the Greek Islands also.

I finished up my training this morning in the Gym, a two hour session. I had my final training run on Monday, a 42.2km run from Athens to the town of Marathon, where the Marathon originated from. It was quite amazing being able to run that path.

I had a bit of the scare last week when going for a run around the Acropolis, it was early morning before the sun had risen and no one else around. I heard some rustling in the bushes and two dogs came running out at me. One was barking while the other one was snarling ferociously. I stood still not wanting them to attack me, I was there for quite a while until more dogs were heard down a hill. The two that had me cornered ran away to the rest of the pack. I decided to slowly make my break down the hill until I saw another dog sniffing around near me. I slowly picked up a rock and threw it as far as I could which worked as all of the dogs took off in that direction and I was able to finally get away! Scary stuff but a good story to tell now haha!

I will try get up some photos on my next entry which should be just before I fly out to the race :)
