2012 has been one of the best years of my life, I ran 1000 km from Brisbane to Sydney, trained in Athens, Greece and raced in the grueling Lycian Way ultramarathon over in Turkey!
As amazing as this year has been I have decided to have a less chaotic and more structured 2013. In saying that though I do plan to race in one ultramarathon for every month of the year, including one 100 mile (160 km) race! Some people may think this is a bit extreme (they are probably right) but for me it feels comfortable.
I will spend the rest of this month training for the first race of next year, the 55 km Hare and Hounds race through the Glasshouse mountains. This will be a nice warm up for the year and one race I'm really looking forward to.
February will be one of the more exciting months as I will be going back to where all of my running started, Paeroa, New Zealand! I will be revising some of my old running routes and meeting up with the only person I have ever trained with, my running buddy Dena. It will be great to run with her again. Not only will I go back to where my running started, I will be also going back to where I ran my very first ultramarathon in Taupo. While there I will race in the 66 km Length of lake ultra. The New Zealand trip is an idea I had for the end of the book that I am currently writing and will be included in the final chapter.
