The 2016 Buffalo Stampede Grand Slam - Sky Marathon And Afterthoughts

The Buffalo Stampede Grand Slam Part III

Feeling completely exhausted after the ultra I wanted to get to bed as soon as possible. I quickly ate my dinner that only needed to be heated up in the microwave, had a protein shake and then a nice hot shower.

I really hoped that I would get in some good quality sleep that night as the last two nights were pretty restless. My ribs had started to get worse and I still wasn't getting over my viral infection either. Unfortunately I was awake most of the night and got in maybe three hours sleep before my alarm went off for the final day, I probably looked like a zombie walking around gathering my things for the day.

The 2016 Buffalo Stampede Grandslam - Preparation and the Sky 26er

The Buffalo Stampede Grandslam Part I

A minute ago I had just reached over to grab my phone and quickly retracted my arm as my ribs pierce me with pain anytime I make a sudden movement. This is a result from the first day of the Buffalo Stampede Grandslam - Good times!

There are three races that take place during the Buffalo Stampede weekend which all start in Bright, Victoria (Australia). The first race is on the Friday which is the Sky 26er, a 26.9km run with 1850m of accent. On the Saturday is the ultramarathon (Ultra Sky Marathon), a 75.

Misty Mountain Trail Run Race Report

I entered this race almost at the last minute. Not long coming off of the Lamington Eco Challenge I knew I had the endurance for it but I wasn't quite sure if my body would be completely recovered. For some reason I thought that the course was completely flat and although there was a lot of flat trails on this course there were some pretty steep inclines as well!

Between the Lamington Eco Challenege and this 50km event I had one full week of training, the rest was all recovery so I didn't have much time at all to prepare my body, I still felt pretty good though so I wasn't too worried.

My plan to run even faster!

It has been a while since I have updated my blog and I have only just started posting frequently on my Facebook page again. The main reason is that I haven't been in any races since June (I think). After that I became quite sick with the flu, the first time being sick in over three years so that was a bit of a shock to the system! t meant having to pull out of two races that I had lined up to compete in and trying to recover.

I was out of training for about three weeks so my body obviously wasn't in the best shape when I started training again.
